Open air service
Just before midday, the bells of All Saints Old Buckenham were being 'pulled' to call people to the open air service on the village Green. They began to arrive on foot, by bike or by car and soon a sizeable congregation was gathered around the village sign for the service taken by the local rector.
There may not have been any organ accompaniment but the hymn singing was tuneful and enthusiastic. The passing cars even slowed down to see what was going on.
