Remembrance at Old Buckenham Airfield

Around the memorial
There were classic cars and military vehicles in abundance at Old Buckenham Airfield on Remembrance Sunday. The existing memorial to those 366 aircrew from the 453rd who lost their lives between December 1943 and May 1945 had been re-installed with a new garden and many people gathered there at 11am for the short service.
The last post was sounded and wreaths were laid. The sun continued to shine as two WWII aircraft took to the air and flew around nearby. It was a strange mixture of celebration and solemnity.

What happened to the original plate which mentions Jim Avis who erected the memorial in 1990. It appears to have been levered up and (badly) replaced with a new one. Nice!
