Well-heeled demonstration
'Well Heeled' was the title of Adele Kent's demonstration at the October meeting of Breckland Flower and Garden Club. Using shoes from several different decades Adele illustrated her arrangements with heels both short and tall. In fact one pair came from a box marked 16 shillings and five pence. Using a wide variety of garden foliage, her designs were of varied shape - triangles, a cascade, a parallel and a very 'modern' just using red carnations and midollino sticks. A very enjoyable afternoon.
The competition results were New Hands - Alison Vivian, Old Hands and monthly cup - Pat Burton. The table show winner was Alison Walker.
Next month there will be a workshop on Thursday 13 November starting at 2pm at Old Buckenham Village Hall. Please bring a table cover and scissors, a platter on which to put your creation, 10 medium-sized ivy leaves, small amounts of variegated foliage, senecio, hebe, etc. Flowers will be provided although a small charge will be made to visitors.
The Club will be holding a fund-raising event at Bunwell Village Hall on Saturday 15 November from 2pm to 5pm. 'Afternoon tea' will be served and stalls will include homemade cakes, jams and preserves, scarves, jewellery and handbags, books (children’s and adult) flower arranging items. There will be games for children and flower arrangements made for sale.
All funds raised will be donated to Scottie's Little Soldiers - a charity dedicated to helping children of personnel killed while serving in the British armed forces. If you would like to donate any items for the stalls please bring them to the next club meeting on Thursday 13 November.
Visitors are always welcome to the meetings and events. Further details from Christine on 01953 454528 or Sally on 01953 788712.
