September meeting of Old Buckenham WI

Learning about EACH
The members of Old Buckenham WI welcomed Mark Loades at their September meeting. He came to tell them about the work of the East Anglian Children’s Hospice. EACH is very proud to have the Duchess of Cambridge as their patron and they provide care and support to life-threatened children and their families throughout Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk.
A range of services are provided including overnight short breaks, day care, specialist play, music therapy, hydrotherapy, parent and sibling groups, symptom management, support and care at end of life, and bereavement support for all family members. Care referrals can be made by anyone – family or care professionals.
EACH relies on volunteers to keep their services going and aim to raise almost £6 million this year from public donations. This amounts to £16,000 a day, every day of the year.
In October Old Buckenham WI have their Birthday celebration when friends join them for supper and entertainment.
